Woman Jumps from 4th Floor to Avoid Rape in Kayole
Authorities in Nairobi are investigating a shocking case in Mihango, Kayole, where a woman suffered severe fractures after jumping from the fourth floor of a residential building.
According to police reports, the woman made the desperate leap on Sunday night after an alleged attempt by a man to assault her. The suspect, who was in the house with the woman, was arrested after she accused him of trying to force himself on her.
Investigators revealed that a confrontation erupted between the two, prompting the woman to flee towards the balcony. In a desperate bid to escape, she leaped off the building, landing on the ground floor with severe injuries.
Security guards at the apartment quickly intervened, rushing the injured woman to a nearby hospital while detaining the suspect. Law enforcement officers later arrived at the scene and took the man into custody for questioning. Medical personnel confirmed that the victim sustained fractures in her legs and is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Majengo slums, police engaged in a dramatic shootout with a suspected criminal following a failed robbery attempt.
Authorities reported that two armed men targeted a woman closing her hotel on Monday evening. Disguised as customers, the suspects waited until the woman was alone before drawing a homemade pistol and demanding her earnings for the day.
However, the woman managed to escape the premises unnoticed and swiftly alerted a nearby police patrol unit. Officers responded immediately, initiating a chase that resulted in an exchange of gunfire. During the confrontation, one of the suspects was shot and dropped both his firearm and a kitchen knife before managing to flee with injuries.
Police are now urging local hospitals and clinics to report any individual seeking treatment for unexplained gunshot wounds, as they believe the wounded suspect could be hiding within the area.
Authorities have intensified security operations in the city to curb rising violent crimes. This effort has already led to the apprehension of several suspects involved in similar offenses.
