Wanjigi Blames Ruto for Abductions and Protester Deaths, Labels Him ‘Constitution Delinquent’
Businessman and political figure Jimi Wanjigi has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, holding him solely accountable for the recent wave of abductions and killings during anti-government protests. In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Wanjigi accused President Ruto’s administration of misusing State resources to instill fear among citizens through enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
Wanjigi did not mince words, labeling President Ruto a “Constitution delinquent” who has flagrantly violated the Kenyan Constitution and his oath of office. He claimed that under Ruto’s leadership, the police and military have been weaponized against innocent Kenyans, leading to the deaths of over 60 youths and the abduction of more than 100 individuals.
“President Ruto has not only violated the Constitution of Kenya but also contravened the oath of office he took,” Wanjigi stated. “For the avoidance of doubt, President Ruto is solely responsible for the abductions, enforced disappearances, and murders of the young people of this country, Gen Z. He has turned the police into his political militia.”
Wanjigi further drew parallels between Ruto’s actions and the dark chapter of the 2007 Post Election Violence, where Ruto faced charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC). He warned that the President’s approach mirrors that of notorious historical dictators who have used violence to suppress dissent.
“Kenyans must never forget Ruto was a suspect at the International Criminal Court (ICC). President Ruto is hypocritically mocking, laughing, and demeaning the abducted, disappeared, and murdered sons and daughters of this country and their loved ones who are painfully crying daily,” Wanjigi asserted.
Wanjigi emphasized that the only “crime” committed by the victims was exercising their constitutional rights peacefully. He likened Ruto’s alleged tyranny to that of infamous despots such as Adolf Hitler and Idi Amin, urging Kenyans not to yield to this brutality.
Expressing solidarity with the families affected by the abductions and killings, Wanjigi lamented the current trajectory of the nation, warning that Kenya is on the brink of disaster. He vowed to seek legal redress both locally and internationally to hold the government accountable for the loss of lives and the enforced disappearances.
“I stand in solidarity and empathy with all the families here and those who did not make it to come for the sons and daughters who have been abducted and disappeared,” Wanjigi said. “Your pain is my pain. We must all wake up and collectively demand truth, accountability, and justice.”
Wanjigi also called for the immediate release of activist Bob Njagi, along with brothers Longton Jamil and Aslam Jamil, who were reportedly abducted two weeks ago in Kitengela by individuals believed to be police officers.
