Violence Erupts at Dagoretti High: 11 Foreign Students Injured in Night Fight
In a night of chaos and escalating tensions, Dagoretti High School in Nairobi became the scene of a violent clash that left 11 foreign students injured. The incident, which began as a simple disagreement over a basketball game between Form One and Form Four students, quickly spiraled out of control, leading to a fierce altercation between Kenyan students and their Sudanese counterparts.
What initially started as a sports-related spat took a dark turn as religious tensions surfaced, dividing the students into two opposing groups. The conflict intensified, prompting Nairobi Police Service officers to intervene as the situation threatened to get out of hand.
Amateur video footage seen by Xtragossip.com captured the chaos that unfolded at the school. Students could be seen hurling sticks and stones at one another in a frenzied display of hostility, while school buses were hurriedly driven out of the compound as the violence escalated.
Despite the police presence, tensions remained high throughout the night. Authorities noted that they were prepared to deploy additional officers if the situation worsened. Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie condemned the violence and confirmed that procedures were in place to address the fallout from the incident.
“The incident at Dagoretti High School has caused significant damage, with students running riot at night. Thankfully, no fatalities or fires have been reported, and the injured students are receiving medical attention,” Kiarie said in a statement.
As investigations continue, the school has yet to issue an official statement on the incident. The violence adds to a worrying trend of student unrest across the country, with several schools reporting similar disturbances in recent weeks. Learning at Dagoretti High School may be disrupted as the administration works to restore order and ensure the safety of all students.
