Uhuru Kenyatta Reveals Creative Tactics to Delay Daughter Ngina’s Wedding
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, speaking on Saturday, December 7, during Kalonzo Musyoka’s daughter’s wedding, shared heartfelt memories of his own daughter Ngina Kenyatta’s 2022 wedding.
In his emotional speech, he confessed how challenging it was to let go of his daughter and revealed the creative excuses he made to delay the big day.
“One of the most difficult things to do is saying kwaheri (goodbye) to a daughter. I went through that,” he admitted. “I tried every trick in the book to delay the wedding—blaming Covid, the upcoming elections, and encouraging her to take more time to plan. But eventually, I ran out of excuses.”
Uhuru also commended the groom, Martin Nyaga, for approaching the union with dignity. “You decided to come through the front door. That is a sign of a boy well brought up, and we congratulate you,” he said, to the delight of the guests.
Adding humor to the joyous occasion, the former President wished the dance session had been longer, joking about his newfound love for dancing. His candidness and warmth made him a highlight of the outdoor ceremony held in Naivasha.
The wedding attracted prominent figures, including Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, with Uhuru seen mingling with key political leaders and the host, Kalonzo Musyoka.
Ngina Kenyatta married Alex Mwai in June 2022 in a private traditional ceremony that remained out of the public eye. Dennis Itumbi was among the first to congratulate the couple, sharing blessings for their union on social media. True to her reserved nature, Ngina’s wedding pictures have never surfaced publicly, leaving Kenyans curious about the celebrated event.
Alex Mwai, Ngina’s husband, is the son of Sam Mwai, the former General Manager of the Karen Country Club.
