“Uhuru Kenyatta Challenges Gen Z: Fear is Not an Option in the Fight for Justice
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on Kenyan youth to actively defend democracy and ensure accountability in governance. Speaking during the burial of his cousin, Kibathi Muigai, at Nairobi Chapel on Friday, Kenyatta criticized the younger generation for their reluctance to confront societal challenges and demand their rights.
The former head of state emphasized the dangers of silence in the face of mismanagement and poor leadership, urging young Kenyans, including his own family, to step up and secure their future.
“The issue today is fear; I don’t know if you’ve been intimidated. Even you, Ngina, step in. Gen Z, you hold the future,” he declared passionately.
He added, “Fight for what is rightfully yours. Don’t let others take what you’ve worked hard for. Don’t sit idle while your efforts go to waste. Nothing in life lasts without a fight.”
Kenyatta’s remarks stemmed from reports of alleged harassment against the children of the deceased over property disputes. Drawing parallels from the life of his cousin, he praised his resilience during detention, urging young people to live courageously and resist fear.
“You have the power to challenge injustices; we are behind you. Stand firm, fight for your rights, and ensure you secure your future,” Kenyatta stated, concluding with a message of encouragement to the younger generation.
