Ugandan Music Icon Faces Court Over Alleged Violence Incident
Renowned Ugandan singer Cindy Sanyu has found herself in the midst of a legal battle, alongside her business partner Gabriel Ramathan, over allegations of inciting violence.
The charges stem from an incident in December 2023 when a night out turned violent, culminating in a clash between Kevin Nyembo and Dr. Luggya Tonny.
Reports indicate that Mr. Nyembo and his associates absconded with money belonging to Dr. Luggya, and it is alleged that Sanyu and Ramathan played a role in encouraging the assault.
Sanyu, speaking to the press, clarified that she attended court on Tuesday, July 30th, solely as a witness. She vehemently denied the accusations, asserting that they were baseless and expressing confidence that the truth would soon come to light.
The court hearing is set to continue in August, pending the appearance of the complainant.
Sanyu, a legendary figure in the Ugandan music scene and a member of the celebrated Blu 3 crew, has maintained her innocence throughout the ordeal. She remains hopeful that justice will prevail and clear her name of any wrongdoing.
