Two Daesh Terrorists After Morocco and Spain Team Up to Arrest
In a significant breakthrough, the Spanish National Police, in collaboration with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), have apprehended two suspected members of the Daesh terrorist organization in northern Spain. The arrests, made in the cities of Itsasondo (Guipúzcoa) and Avilés (Asturias), are linked to alleged crimes of indoctrination, dissemination of extremist propaganda, and incitement to violence.
According to a statement from the Spanish police, the two suspects had been under close observation since early this year, due to their activities on social media platforms where they promoted Daesh’s violent agenda. Investigators revealed that the individuals were actively spreading terrorist messages, encouraging others to carry out violent acts in support of the group.
The arrests were part of a wider operation overseen by Spain’s Central Court of Investigation and coordinated with the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the National Court. Morocco’s DGST played a critical role in the operation, a partnership which has contributed to the apprehension of multiple terrorists in recent years.
This successful joint effort underscores the importance of international collaboration in the fight against terrorism. The Spanish National Police highlighted the high level of professionalism and deep understanding of the terrorist threat possessed by both agencies, which have been instrumental in preventing extremist activities.
The operation reflects the ongoing commitment to combating terrorism within and beyond Spain’s borders, and it reiterates the national police’s strategic priority to maintain and enhance global partnerships to ensure national security.
