Tragedy ;Man Fatally Stabbed in New Year Confrontation
A confrontation at a business hub in Sunton, Kasarani, Nairobi, turned fatal on January 1, when Solomon Kamau, a middle-aged man, was stabbed in the neck with broken glass. The altercation, which occurred at a popular local centre, left Kamau bleeding profusely. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival, police confirmed.
The assailant was later subdued by an angry mob, who stoned and beat him before law enforcement intervened, rescuing him and escorting him to the hospital under police custody. Broken, bloodstained glass shards were recovered at the scene as investigations into the motive for the attack continue.
In Laikipia West, tragedy struck during New Year’s celebrations in Nguo Village, Rumuruti, when a 17-year-old boy lost his life after being assaulted during an argument at a church gathering. Another individual was injured and remains hospitalized in stable condition. Police are pursuing the attackers, while the boy’s body awaits an autopsy at the local mortuary.
Meanwhile, in Baringo County, the body of a 40-year-old man identified as Joseph Kamau Ndirangu was discovered in the Maji Mazuri forest with deep cuts to the back of his head. Authorities suspect the murder took place elsewhere, with the body later dumped in the forest. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the motive and apprehend those responsible.
