“They Want Me Dead!” Jimi Wanjigi Points Finger at Ruto, Uhuru Over Raid
Nairobi, Kenya – Controversial businessman and politician Jimi Wanjigi has made startling claims that the current administration under President William Ruto is conspiring to eliminate him. In a fiery interview on Citizen TV’s The Explainer show, Wanjigi revealed that the recent raid on his Muthaiga residence by heavily armed police was a calculated move by the state to silence him.
Wanjigi, who leads the Safina Party, alleged that the raid was not just a routine police operation but a targeted attack meant to intimidate him. He linked this to a similar incident under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime, suggesting that both Kenyatta and Ruto harbor deep-seated fears about his influence and are working in tandem to neutralize him.
“My family believes that if these people catch me, they will kill me,” Wanjigi stated, adding that the accusations of him possessing assault weapons, including grenades and teargas canisters, are fabrications designed to portray him as a dangerous individual. “They are framing me to justify taking me out,” he said.
Wanjigi questioned the legality of the actions taken against him, arguing that if the government truly wanted to arrest him, they could have done so through lawful channels without terrorizing his family for days on end. “This is not about the law; it’s about fear,” he insisted.
The businessman also accused the government of planting evidence during the raid, a tactic he claims has been used against him before. He challenged both Ruto and Kenyatta to publicly address the alleged vendetta against him, warning that their actions set a dangerous precedent.
“Two regimes have now tried to create criminal cases against me. Why are they so afraid? This kind of persecution has never been seen before in our country,” Wanjigi declared, pointing out that even during the repressive Moi era, such tactics were not employed against political opponents.
