Situma ;Blames Gor Mahia and Leopards’ Form on Internal Disputes Led To Poor Results
Former Kenyan football star James Situma has urged top-flight clubs Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards to swiftly address internal conflicts affecting their performance. He attributes both clubs’ recent struggles to unresolved issues within their technical and management structures, suggesting that smoother coordination could help them reclaim their dominance in the local league.
“There seems to be a disconnect between the players, technical bench, and fans that’s becoming apparent during matches. When these differences start showing, it’s critical to resolve them swiftly before the situation escalates,” Situma explained.
Currently, Gor Mahia, the reigning champions, find themselves in an uncharacteristic 11th position, while AFC Leopards sit seventh. Both teams have faced vocal criticism from their fan bases, who have expressed dissatisfaction with recent performances and demanded a change in results.
“These teams carry immense expectations from their fans. The results are crucial, and players must always aim to deliver outcomes that resonate with fan expectations,” Situma added, underscoring the high stakes tied to each game.
Situma also emphasized the significance of resolving these issues ahead of the upcoming Mashemeji Derby, scheduled for the 24th of this month.
“This derby means everything to both clubs. Given the pressure from fans, a win in this match could be the turning point for either team this season. It’s definitely a game to watch,” he concluded.
