Shock in Kitui as 2-Month-Old Baby Abandoned; Mother Arrested
Kitui County police have launched investigations following a distressing incident where a two-month-old infant was found abandoned in Nzalae sub-location. The baby boy, who appeared to be in good health, was discovered by a villager beside a footpath in Pangani village.
Authorities were alerted, and upon arriving at the scene, they quickly took the baby to Mwingi Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention and accommodation at the children’s unit while awaiting further action.
Following thorough investigations, police traced the mother, a 20-year-old woman, who has since been arrested at Kithyoko market. She is currently in police custody at the local station, pending arraignment in court on charges related to the abandonment of the child. The suspect, a resident of the Kithyoko location, faces serious legal consequences as the case continues to unfold.
In a separate incident on Wednesday night, a fire broke out in Mugae village, Ruiri Rwarera location, Meru, causing significant damage to a local resident’s property. The man, identified as David Koome, was burning twigs to clear his farm around 9:00 p.m.
when the flames unexpectedly spread, engulfing his entire house and destroying various household items, including important land sale agreements belonging to his siblings. Police officers from Kathare Police Station are currently investigating the matter to determine the full extent of the losses.
