Shock as NPSC Chairperson Candidate Komora Jilo Dies While Waiting for Interview
Komora Mabudi Jilo, a hopeful vying for the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chairperson role, tragically passed away just before his scheduled interview.
The sudden death occurred at the Public Service Commission offices on Harambee Avenue, causing a brief pause in the selection process.
Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana confirmed the sad news, expressing his condolences for the “hard-working man” who was dedicated to his family and career. Officials reported that after Jilo’s body was taken for an autopsy, the interviews resumed as planned.
Jilo was a familiar figure in Kenyan politics, having sought the Garsen MP seat in the 2022 elections under the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) banner.
His passing came shortly after the Public Service Commission (PSC) released the list of candidates for the NPSC chairperson position.
Among the other prominent contenders are former IEBC Commissioner Margaret Wanjala and former Gatanga MP Humphrey Kimani.
The roster also includes former Busia County Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa, former Principal Secretary Micah Pkopus, and former Judiciary Finance Director Susan Oyatsi.
Following the interviews, the selection panel will present a shortlist to President William Ruto. He will then nominate a candidate, sending the name to the National Assembly for approval.
The Parliamentary Committee on Administration and National Security will conduct additional vetting. If approved, the full House will confirm the nomination, and the President will finalize the appointment. If rejected, a new nominee will be submitted.
