Second Body of ‘Mlolongo 3’ Abductees Identified at City Mortuary

The body of Martin Mwau, one of the three men who vanished in Mlolongo last December, has been found at the Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly City Mortuary. His discovery comes just days after Justus Mutumwa’s body was also identified at the same facility.

Mutumwa, Mwau, and Karani Muema went missing on December 16, 2024, leaving their families in distress as they searched for answers. According to Mutumwa’s relatives, his body was retrieved from Ruai and taken to the mortuary on December 18, merely two days after he disappeared. However, details regarding where Mwau’s body was recovered remain unclear.

The grim finding of Mwau’s remains intensifies concerns over the circumstances surrounding the trio’s disappearance and subsequent deaths. Authorities, particularly top police officials, have repeatedly denied involvement or knowledge of their whereabouts.

After previously disregarding court summons, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohammed Amin finally appeared in court on Thursday. They distanced themselves from the case, with Amin stating that investigations were ongoing.

With two of the three missing men now confirmed dead, pressure is mounting on law enforcement to provide answers and deliver justice. Meanwhile, the fate of Karani Muema remains unknown.
