Ruto’s Latest Ps Reshuffle: Who’s In and Who’s Out?
President William Ruto has dramatically reshuffled his administration, reassigning six Principal Secretaries and introducing 14 new nominees, including those linked to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. This move signals a significant shift in the government’s strategic direction.
Amos Gathecha has been elevated from the public service to Deputy Head of Public Services, indicating a focus on streamlining administrative efficiency. Additionally, Prof Edwin Kisiang’ani from the ICT Ministry will now serve as a senior advisor on the President’s economic council.
The new nominees reflect a diverse range of expertise. Jane Kare Imbunya will lead Public Services and Human Capital Development, while Regina Akoth Ombam takes on Trade. Cyrell Wagunda Odede will oversee Public Investment and Asset Management, and Caroline Wanjiru Karugu, an ally of Raila, will manage East African Community Affairs.
Further appointments include Oluga Fredrick Ouma for Medical Service, Ahmed Abdisalan Ibrahim for National Government Co-ordination, Judith Naiyai Pareno for Justice Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs, Bonface Makokha for Economic Planning, and Prof Abdulrazak Shaukat for Science, Research and Innovation.
Stephen Isaboke will lead Broadcast and Telecommunication, Micheal Lenasalon will focus on Devolution, Fikirini Katoi Kajindi on Youth Affairs, Carren Ageng’o Achieng on Children Welfare Services, and Aden Abdi Millah on Shipping and Maritime Affairs.
President Ruto’s reorganization aims to capitalize on emerging economic sectors. This includes the reassignment of Professor Julius Bitok from Immigration to Basic Education.
Teresia Mbaika now heads Aviation and Aerospace Development, shifting from her previous role in Devolution. Ishmael Madey moves to Special Programmes, and Harry Kimtai transitions from Medical Services to Mining. Elijah Mwangi will now lead the State department of sports, taking the place of Peter Tum. And Belio Kipsang, previously Basic Education PS, will now be in charge of immigration and citizen Services.
This comprehensive reshuffle underscores President Ruto’s intent to strategically align his administration with his vision for national development.
