Ruto Vows to Return to Evangelism After Presidency
President William Ruto has revealed that his post-presidency plans involve returning to his “original calling” of evangelism. The Kenyan leader, known for his deep-rooted faith and public love for the Bible, shared that his upbringing was steeped in the teachings of the word of God, a foundation that he intends to return to once his presidential duties are fulfilled.
During a church service in Bungoma County on Sunday, President Ruto defended his practice of addressing crowds from elevated platforms, whether it be on church pulpits or from the roof of his car. He explained that this habit is a reflection of his evangelical background. “I am an evangelist, and sometimes people wonder why I stand in raised places, sometimes on top of the car. When your orientation is an evangelist, you always behave like an evangelist even when you are doing other things,” Ruto stated.
He further emphasized his commitment to returning to evangelism, saying, “I have given a commitment that when I finish my tour of duty as president, I will go back to being an evangelist because that is my original calling.”
The President also urged the clergy to continue praying for the nation as he works tirelessly to revive the economy and address the challenges facing his government. He expressed optimism about the country’s progress, highlighting that the nation’s development trajectory has shifted towards a focus on collective responsibility and integrity.
“God has blessed us with favorable weather over the past two years, leading to an abundance of food in Kenya. We have shifted the national conversation towards meaningful development, a conversation I have always wanted Kenya to have,” Ruto remarked.
In his address, President Ruto also issued a stern warning against those attempting to sow division based on ethnicity and religion, asserting that he would personally lead efforts to champion unity. He pointed to his inclusive approach in forming a broad-based government, which included appointing members of the opposition to his second cabinet.
“Those who want to divide us will fail and fail miserably,” President Ruto declared.
