‘Ruto Is Here to Stay!’‘Ruto Is Here to Stay!’
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has issued a stern response to critics calling for President William Ruto’s removal from office, dismissing the push as futile. Speaking during a rally in Kibirech, Elgeyo Marakwet County on Thursday, Sudi mocked online dissenters, referring to them as “wakora” (crooks), while affirming Ruto’s position.
“Those online crooks in Nairobi are making noise, chanting ‘Ruto must go.’ Didn’t I tell them yesterday? Let them jump up, down, or sideways—Ruto is going nowhere,” Sudi declared amid laughter from the crowd.
The legislator also addressed the notion of entitlement to leadership, emphasizing that any Kenyan, regardless of background, has the capacity to lead the nation. He humorously hinted at his own presidential aspirations.
“Some think only they are fit to lead this country. No! Even a Luhya, a Turkana—any Kenyan—can lead. Who knows? You might even make me President one day,” Sudi said, eliciting cheers from the audience.
His remarks come at a time of heightened criticism of President Ruto’s administration, with opposition movements, particularly by younger citizens, using platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to amplify the hashtag #RutoMustGo
