Ruto Confirms Trump’s Backing for Kenyan Troops in Haiti, Supports Two-Gender Policy
Kenyan President William Ruto has expressed unwavering support for former U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, applauding a recently signed executive order recognizing only two genders, male and female. Ruto made the remarks during a Sunday service at the Global Cathedral Church in Nairobi, where he reiterated his belief in traditional gender norms, aligning with Trump’s policy.
“Men must remain men, women must remain women, boys must remain boys, and girls must remain girls,” Ruto stated. He praised the policy shift as a welcome development, emphasizing it reinforced Kenya’s own stance on gender identity.
The Kenyan leader also touched on his country’s ongoing mission in Haiti, addressing speculation about the U.S. commitment to supporting Kenya’s efforts under Trump’s presidency. Ruto assured congregants that he had personally reached out to Trump and received his assurance of continued backing for the deployment of Kenyan forces to the crisis-stricken nation.
“I am proud that even under the new administration, the U.S. continues to support Kenya’s mission in Haiti,” Ruto declared, while stopping short of confirming whether Trump had agreed to provide additional resources.
Kenya recently deployed 217 elite police officers to Haiti, further strengthening its security mission there. Despite concerns from critics over strained diplomatic relations under Trump’s administration, Ruto reassured the public that the bond between Kenya and the U.S. remains strong.
“There is a unique friendship between our two nations. The United States is a great blessing to Kenya, and we collaborate in many ways,” Ruto affirmed.
Meanwhile, Trump’s new executive orders have sparked global debates, particularly those impacting international aid and partnerships. The orders include potential changes to funding for organizations such as USAID and WHO, a move that could have far-reaching implications for countries like Kenya that rely on such support.
