Radio Star Wilbroda’s Hilarious Tale of Being Fooled by Fake ‘Diamond’ Kin
Kenyan radio presenter Wilbroda has shared a hilarious yet cautionary tale of how she was duped by a Tanzanian man pretending to be a relative of the famous musician Diamond Platnumz.
In an engaging interview with Oga Obinna, Wilbroda recounted her experience with the man who promised her the world but delivered nothing but lies. “He swept me off my feet and even took me to a car yard, choosing a car worth KSh 8 million,” she said. “He told me I would be driving that car, and he would take the car I owned.”
The man constantly fabricated stories about his close relationship with Diamond Platnumz. “Alikuwa anapiga simu anasema ongea na shemeji yako Diamond…naonanga tuu ni kama alikuwa ni msee wa hapa Umoja,” Wilbroda recalled, laughing.
This translates to, “He would call and say, ‘Talk to your brother-in-law Diamond…I think it was just someone from Umoja.'”
The reality of her “bae’s” deception hit home when she visited him after a bar fight. “Alikuwa amepigwa kwa bar. Nilienda nikaona hospitali ilikuwa clinic huko Pipeline nikasema huyu msee hana pesa. Huyo alinicheza. Mabeshte zangu wanicheka hadi sahii,” she said, meaning, “He had been beaten in a bar. I went and saw that the hospital was a clinic in Pipeline. I knew the guy was broke. He played me. My friends still laugh at me to this day.”
Wilbroda’s tale serves as a humorous yet sobering reminder of the lengths some people will go to deceive others. Despite this experience, she remains a proud mother of one, sharing her story with laughter and a bit of wisdom.
