Pastor From Hell :Charged with Kidnapping and Murder of Infant in Shocking Crime
Three suspects, including a pastor, are in remand facing severe allegations of kidnapping and murder, a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Daily Monitor reports that the group, consisting of Innocent Namanya, 33, Apostle Janepher Nuwahereza, 33, of Healers Church Ministry, and Alex Mutesigensi, 34, a boda boda rider, allegedly plotted and executed the brutal murders of Namanya’s one-year-old son, Ariho Elijah, and 19-year-old Ainembabazi Mellon.
Prosecutors accuse Namanya of masterminding the kidnapping in collaboration with his second wife, Apostle Nuwahereza, to resolve a domestic dispute involving the child. On October 6, Namanya allegedly hired Ainembabazi to abduct the boy from his mother, Create Natukunda, during a church service.
However, things took a deadly turn when Ainembabazi, sensing a more sinister plot, refused to hand over the child to Mutesigensi and instead took the boy to her home.
In response, the suspects allegedly tracked her down, killing both Ainembabazi and the child before disposing of their bodies in a river, concealing them in a sack filled with stones. The bodies were later recovered by authorities, and autopsies were conducted at Itojo Hospital.
The case has drawn attention not only due to the horrific crime but also because of the involvement of Apostle Nuwahereza, a respected religious leader.
Members of the Healers Church Ministry are grappling with the pastor’s involvement in such heinous acts. Some congregants recalled a recent sermon in which she claimed to have received a divine vision warning of her arrest but assured the faithful that God would deliver her.
Presiding Magistrate Edgar Kakuru confirmed that the case is beyond his court’s jurisdiction and will be tried in the High Court. The trio faces three counts of kidnapping and murder, with further hearings set for November 28.
The case has raised questions about the rising influence of independent religious movements and their leaders, with many expressing outrage over the abuse of spiritual authority.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated but similarly troubling case, controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie remains in custody over his involvement in a deadly starvation cult.
