Pakistan Seeks Answers After Journalist’s Fatal Shooting in Kenya
In a swift response to the tragic killing of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya, the Pakistan government has dispatched three senior intelligence officers to investigate the incident.
On Tuesday, October 25, the Pakistan government announced that the officers, from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Intelligence Bureau, and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), would depart immediately for Nairobi.
The team, comprising Director Arthar Waheed, Deputy Director General Omar Shahid Hamid, and Lt. Col. Saad Ahmed, is tasked with uncovering the circumstances surrounding the journalist’s death.
The Pakistan High Commission in Kenya has been directed to fully support the investigative team during their stay. This urgent move follows the repatriation of Sharif’s body to Pakistan after he was fatally shot by a Kenyan police officer on October 23.
The National Police Service of Kenya confirmed that Sharif was killed under unclear circumstances on a rural road in Kajiado County. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through both nations, is under intense scrutiny, with demands for a thorough and transparent investigation.
