No Power Today In This Counties
In an ongoing effort to maintain and upgrade the national electricity grid, Kenya Power has announced that select areas across seven counties will experience planned electricity outages tomorrow. The power cuts, which will last for five to eight hours, are part of routine maintenance aimed at enhancing service reliability and reducing the frequency of unplanned outages. Here’s a breakdown of the affected areas by county:
- Machakos County
- Machakos Town: Residents and businesses in areas like Machakos Level 5, Muthini Estate, Quickmart Pioneer, and the Industrial Area will face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Tala, Kangundo Town: Power will be out in Tala Town, Kangundo Town, and adjacent areas including Kinyui Market, Mbilini, and Nguluni from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Kakamega County
- Kulumbeni: Power cuts will occur in Kulumbeni Village, affecting the primary school, market, and nearby areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Meru County
- Irinda, Gitimbine: Localities including Gikumene, Kathurine, and Chaaria will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Mombasa County
- Bombolulu, Leisure: Residents in Leisure, Makaburini, and nearby estates will experience an outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Nairobi County
- USIU, Thika Road: Outages are planned for areas around USIU, Mirema Drive, and Roysambu from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Juja Road: Parts of Eastleigh, Moi Air Base, and surrounding areas will be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Kiambu County
- Juja, Bob Harries Road, Mangu Road: Locations including Mungetho, Mirimaini, and Karibaribi will be impacted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Kimbo, Toll Station: Power will be out in areas such as GSU Ruiru, Murera Coffee, and Mugutha Estate from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Kilifi County
- Ribe, Rabai: Outages in areas like Rabai Kailo, Jumbo Village, and Kambe Dispensary will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kenya Power’s Backup Strategy
To mitigate frequent outages, Kenya Power, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, has set up a backup control centre in the Coast region at a cost of KSh 50 million. This facility will serve as an alternative dispatch point and bolster the security of the electricity supply across the nation.
