National Assembly Speaker Sued for Ksh.281K Debt in Dog Supply Dispute
Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, finds himself entangled in a legal battle over an alleged unpaid debt of Ksh. 281,000. The lawsuit, brought by Isoka Bethwel in the Small Claims Court, revolves around a disputed transaction involving the supply of two German Shepherd dogs and a range of related services.
According to court documents, Bethwel alleges that Wetangula engaged his services to supply two male German Shepherd dogs along with dog training services.
The agreement further extended to the provision of four packs of dog food, training sleeves, leashes, choke chains, grooming brushes, nail cutters, five liters of dog shampoo, and five liters of kennel disinfectant. The total value of these services and supplies amounted to Ksh. 348,100.
While an initial payment of Ksh. 100,000 was made, Bethwel asserts that the remaining balance of Ksh. 248,100 has yet to be settled. Despite repeated attempts to recover the outstanding amount, Bethwel claims that Wetangula has refused to pay, leading him to seek legal intervention.
The court documents reveal that Wetangula allegedly dismissed Bethwel’s requests for payment, leaving him with no alternative but to pursue the matter in court. Bethwel contends that the prolonged non-payment has caused him psychological distress and stands to result in financial loss if the court does not intervene.
Wetangula has not yet made any public statement regarding the allegations. The case now awaits legal resolution as Bethwel seeks full payment for the services rendered.
