Mother Slaughters Two Children Before Committing Suicide in Bomet
Tragedy has engulfed Chebisian village in Bomet County after a 30-year-old woman brutally killed her two children before taking her own life. The heartbreaking incident was discovered on Saturday when police found the bodies of the two children, aged 12 and three, in a pool of blood inside their locked home.
The woman reportedly used a panga to slaughter her children before hanging herself from a truss. Authorities had to force their way into the house to recover the bodies, which have since been moved to Longisa County Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
According to the police, the woman had been struggling with mental trauma, which may have led to this tragic event. However, investigators are not ruling out foul play and are considering the possibility that the scene was staged to look like a murder-suicide.
“We need to thoroughly investigate to uncover the truth behind this tragedy,” said an officer involved in the probe.
The incident highlights a disturbing rise in suicide cases, prompting urgent calls for intervention. The government has been rolling out programs to combat this trend amid mounting financial and social challenges. Experts from the World Health Organization point to factors such as unemployment, academic pressures, legal and financial troubles, and mental health disorders as contributing to the increasing number of such tragic incidents.
