Mother Accused of Killing Two Children Fights UK Extradition Over Life Sentence Fears
In a gripping courtroom drama unfolding in London, Kimberlee Singler, a 36-year-old American woman accused of the brutal murder of two of her children, is fighting against extradition to the U.S. Facing seven charges, including first-degree murder, Singler has denied all accusations.
The charges stem from a December 2023 incident in Colorado, where prosecutors allege Singler shot her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son in the head before stabbing them in the neck during a heated custody dispute with her ex-partner. She is also accused of attempting to murder her third child, an 11-year-old girl who survived the attack.

In a statement delivered at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Singler’s lawyer, Edward Fitzgerald, firmly stated that his client “denies responsibility for the deaths of her two children” and rejects allegations of the attempted murder of her surviving daughter. He further argued that Singler should not be extradited, citing concerns over the potential life sentence without parole if convicted in the U.S., which her defense claims violates her human rights.
Joel Smith, representing U.S. prosecutors, presented chilling evidence from Singler’s surviving child, who reportedly told police that Singler acted on what she believed were divine instructions to kill her children, fearing their father would take them away. Initially, Singler had blamed an unknown male and tried to shift suspicion toward her ex-partner, claims Smith asserted were proven false.
Fitzgerald, however, raised concerns over the validity of the statement made by the surviving child, suggesting that it may not have been made voluntarily.
Throughout the hearing, Singler remained composed, taking notes as the case continued. The court session will resume on Thursday, with extradition proceedings set to intensify.
