Mirema Kidnapping: One Suspect Arrested, Two at Large
A suspected kidnapper, 28-year-old Frankline Otieno Odhiambo, is set to appear in court on Wednesday after his arrest in Mirema, Kasarani, Nairobi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) alleges that Otieno, alongside two accomplices identified as Carol and Adan, orchestrated the abduction of an Indian-Kenyan victim in a sinister extortion plot.
The victim was reportedly tricked into visiting a house under the guise of a business meeting with Carol. Once inside, Otieno and Adan allegedly stormed in, accusing the victim of fabricated offenses.
“Carol signaled Otieno and his associate, who entered the room and falsely accused the fear-stricken visitor of drawing from Otieno’s pot without permission,” the DCI detailed in a statement.
The suspects then demanded the victim’s family contact details and coerced them into paying a ransom for his release. In a desperate bid to save their loved one, the family raised Ksh. 310,000 as an advance payment before alerting police at the Parklands and Kabati stations.
Following swift action, police arrested Otieno and recovered a mobile phone used to demand the ransom. Meanwhile, efforts to capture Carol and Adan are ongoing as authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
