Man Arrested for Assaulting 73-Year-Old Woman in Chilling Attack
A 45-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old woman in Tharaka Nithi County, authorities confirm.
The distressing incident took place in the KK Ndagani area of Chuka Igambangombe Constituency, according to County Police Commander Zacchaeus Ngeno.
Reports indicate that the suspect, identified as James Mutembei, arrived at the elderly woman’s residence while she was with her husband.
Under false pretenses, Mutembei told the husband he was urgently needed at his mother’s home, prompting the man to leave.
Once the husband departed, Mutembei returned to the home, finding the elderly woman alone. He allegedly took advantage of her vulnerable state and committed the heinous act.
The suspect was swiftly detained and is currently being held at Chuka Police Station. Police confirm that Mutembei will face formal charges in court on Tuesday.
