We hereby offer our unreserved and unqualified apology to Hon. Sicily K. Kariuki for the broadcast that was false and that injured her character, integrity and reputation.
“Hon. Sicily K. Kariuki was not involved in any way with the alleged NYS Saga,” read the apology in part.
Kairuki was appointed to the Cabinet in 2015 by former President Uhuru Kenyatta who made changes in his team following graft allegations in various ministries.
The appointment also came after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru resigned from her position as the CS.
At the time Kairiuki was taking over, there had been allegations of embezzlement of funds at NYS early that year.
According to audit reports, taxpayers lost close to Ksh791 million through flawed tenders issued to various suppliers.
