Ksh.790M Wealth: Julius Ogamba’s Journey to Becoming Education CS
In a riveting vetting session before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominee Julius Migos Ogamba disclosed his substantial net worth of Ksh.790 million. Ogamba, a seasoned advocate, attributes his wealth to a combination of agricultural ventures, extensive land assets, motor vehicles, and a thriving law practice.
“I am worth 790 million made up of largely land. I have tea, trees, vehicles, farm equipment, and, of course, the income from the law firm,” Ogamba declared. His diverse portfolio includes a productive tea farm, various tree plantations, and essential farm equipment.
Ogamba, formerly the Chairperson of the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), has over 25 years of legal experience at Migos Ogamba & Waudo Advocates. If confirmed, he will succeed Ezekiel Machogu, who served as the Education CS since 2022.
During his vetting, Machogu had reported an estimated net worth of Ksh.590 million, largely accumulated through strategic land acquisitions and ownership of residential properties and luxury vehicles. “I have buildings in Nairobi, three in Eastlands specifically Jogoo Road, another in Pangani, an apartment in Milimani, at Kileleshwa, and near Yaya Centre,” Machogu revealed in 2022. “I also have an apartment in Mombasa, Shanzu area, land along Ngong Road, a plot in Kisii town, and 30 acres in Kisii. Additionally, I own a Mercedes Benz and a Toyota V8.”
Notably, Ogamba served as Machogu’s running mate during the 2022 Kisii gubernatorial elections, highlighting a strong professional alliance between the two.
