KRA to Auction Abandoned Goods in Nairobi in Massive Clearance Sale
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a critical warning to over 100 businesses. Unclaimed goods, currently stored in KRA warehouses, are slated for auction.
A formal notice, released via the government gazette, demands these companies clear their goods within 30 days. Failure to comply will result in a public auction, scheduled for May.
The items, destined for Kenya and neighboring South Sudan, are held at the KRA Customs Warehouse Keeper and the Inland Container Depot in Nairobi.
These goods span a wide range of products, including upholstery, electronics, industrial machinery, and textiles. Other items include food products, automotive lubricants, and solar equipment.
“Under the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, these unclaimed goods will be sold if not removed within 30 days,” KRA stated.
The auction is set for May 5th through 9th, 2025, and will be conducted online.
Potential buyers can inspect the goods on April 30th and May 2nd, 2025, at designated locations.
The items, primarily in shipping containers, will be auctioned at various locations, including Syokimau Inland Container Depot and Autoport.
This follows a previous KRA auction announcement on March 11th, which included furniture and car parts, held on March 26th. This earlier auction aimed to clear obsolete items from KRA warehouses nationwide.
