Kenyan Teachers, Apply Now: TSC Opens 20,000 JSS Teaching Internship Vacancies
he Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has launched a large-scale recruitment drive to hire 20,000 teachers to support Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in Kenya. The announcement, made on October 29, confirms that the commission is looking to hire on a 12-month internship basis.
This initiative aims to bolster the workforce needed for implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and to provide support for students in both Regular and Special Needs Education (SNE) schools.
The application deadline is set for November 4, and all applications must be submitted exclusively through the TSC website. Manual submissions will not be accepted.
Candidates interested in these positions must meet specific requirements, including Kenyan citizenship, a minimum of a C+ grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and in the two main teaching subjects.
Moreover, only individuals already registered with TSC will be considered for these roles.
The TSC is especially encouraging qualified teachers with expertise in technical subjects to apply. As stipulated by the commission, only applicants with no prior teaching record with TSC or any disciplinary history will be considered for the internship positions.
Intern teachers selected will earn a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000, which will be subject to standard government deductions. Applicants must submit copies of their TSC Certificate, national ID, KRA PIN, two passport photos, and, if applicable, a National Council for Persons with Disabilities card.
This move represents the government’s commitment to strengthening education through targeted support in Junior Secondary Schools, ensuring the successful rollout of CBC nationwide.
