vacancy!!! Thousands of Teaching Jobs Open as TSC Announces New Recruitment Drive
NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 1 – The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced an ambitious recruitment drive, opening up 46,000 permanent and pensionable teaching positions to address the critical shortage of teachers in Kenya. This recruitment covers primary, junior secondary, and secondary schools nationwide, promising a significant boost to the country’s education sector.
The TSC revealed that out of the available positions, 6,000 are designated for primary schools, 39,550 for junior secondary schools, and 450 for secondary schools. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications online via the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, or directly at teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
To qualify, candidates must be Kenyan citizens, registered with the TSC, and meet specific educational requirements. Those applying for primary school positions should possess a minimum of a P1 certificate, while candidates for junior and senior secondary school roles must hold a diploma in education. The TSC has emphasized that only one application per person will be considered, with multiple submissions leading to disqualification.
Additionally, current interns are encouraged to apply within their current counties, sub-counties, or workstations. The only documentation required for verification will be their identity cards.
This recruitment comes amid mounting pressure from teachers’ unions, which have been vocal about the dire need for permanent employment in the sector. Teachers have raised concerns about the number of educators still working under temporary contracts, which has resulted in widespread discontent and even strikes in recent months.
The deadline for applications is October 7, 2024, giving aspiring candidates a limited time to secure a spot in this expansive hiring initiative.
