‘Ile Kiboko Tulipiga Gachagua Inakuja Kwako’: Osoro Threatens Muturi Over Son’s Abduction Case
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has issued a stern ultimatum to Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, calling for his resignation or facing impeachment over the handling of his son Leslie’s abduction last year.
Muturi, who previously served as National Assembly Speaker, has faced backlash from pro-Kenya Kwanza leaders since revealing details of his family’s ordeal, which allegedly involved his son’s disappearance and subsequent release.
Speaking on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Osoro criticized Muturi’s public statements about police inefficiency, questioning his competence as a Cabinet Secretary.
“The level of pretence in this government iko juu sana. Justin Muturi, you sit in Cabinet meetings, speak to the President and police daily, but then call press conferences to cry about the same police? You know the law, having been Speaker. Leo, mbele ya watu wangu, ile kiboko tulipiga Gachagua, sasa inakuja kwako. Resign or I will remove you,” Osoro declared in a video shared widely.
He further outlined three options for Muturi: step down, apologize and drop the matter, or face impeachment.
“Bunge resumes in 14 days, Justin Muturi. Option one, resign. Option two, apologize and ignore this. Option three, we impeach you. We’ll collect signatures and send you home. You cannot serve a government you are constantly attacking,” Osoro added.
Kitany Echoes Osoro’s Sentiments
The calls for Muturi’s resignation were amplified by Aldai MP Marianne Kitany, who accused the CS of failing to fulfill his duties after his son’s abduction.
“If your child was abducted and later released, the first step is to report to the police. It’s been six months, and you haven’t done that. You’re the Minister for Public Service, yet you’re criticizing the same government you work for. If you can’t respect the government, then you’ve failed in your role,” Kitany said on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Kitany warned that if Muturi doesn’t step down, she would spearhead a motion in Parliament to censure him.
Muturi had earlier presented a statement to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a move expected to fuel more debates on the rising cases of abductions.
