IEBC CEO Demands Justice After Murder of Senior Official Aisha Akinyi
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has called for urgent action after the murder of Aisha Akinyi Abubakar, a senior official based in Kilifi.
In a statement issued by IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan, the commission strongly condemned the killing and urged law enforcement agencies to expedite investigations to apprehend those responsible.
“The IEBC fraternity is saddened by her death and expresses its deepest condolences to Aisha’s family, friends, and colleagues for the tragic loss,” Marjan stated. He affirmed the commission’s commitment to supporting Akinyi’s family during their time of mourning.
Expressing grave concern over the incident, the IEBC called on security agencies to prioritize the case, stating, “The commission is deeply concerned by the horrendous incident and condemns the perpetrators behind Aisha’s death. We call on the country’s security agencies to speedily investigate the heinous occurrence and apprehend her killers.”
