‘I Blame Him’: Kuria on Gachagua’s Leadership Downfall
President William Ruto’s senior economic advisor, Moses Kuria, has pointed fingers at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, blaming him for his political misfortunes.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Kuria criticized Gachagua’s approach, stating that the former DP lacked patience and failed to honor commitments made alongside President Ruto.
“Even in homes, businesses, and governments, disagreements are inevitable. Just a little patience and engagement would have gone a long way. He was in a privileged position, chairing cabinet committees. I solely blame him for his own goal,” Kuria remarked.
Kuria suggested that Gachagua should have maintained loyalty and waited for at least four or five years before publicly dissenting against the President.
“I feel embarrassed by leaders from my community who insist on being in charge. Democracy gives five years; waiting three or four years wouldn’t have hurt. Gachagua, who had 10 million people behind him, is now forming his party. While others are excited, I am not,” he added.
Despite their differences, Kuria maintained that Gachagua remains his friend. He revealed that although he initially opposed the impeachment motion against the former DP, circumstances forced him to support it.
“Gachagua and I have a history—we campaigned together, served in Parliament, and worked in Cabinet. I treated him with respect as my boss, but unfortunately, he didn’t do himself any favors. When the time came, I was left with no choice but to support his removal,” Kuria explained
