How to tell if you love your partner more than they love you
Finding love is a wonderful thing, but it is not always simple.
While we’d all like to believe that love is always completely equal in a relationship, this isn’t always the case.
We sometimes put more effort into a relationship than our partners, which is unfortunate because we love our partners more than they love us back.
Mutual love is a marvel, but what if you love him more than he loves you?
Some may argue that if you’re on the same path as each other, it doesn’t matter if the relationship dynamic shifts in one direction or the other.
If you want to know if the playing field is level, there are some telltale signs. Here are some signs that you may be more in love with him than he is with you.
1. You discover that you are not receiving as much in return
This could be a sign if you’re always the one who is generous and initiates acts that aren’t reciprocated.
If you find that your love is never reciprocated, from buying gifts to cooking and even bedroom habits, it may be time to admit that you love your partner more than they love you.
2. You are willing to sacrifice time with friends, but they are not
If you’re usually the one willing to cancel plans or ditch friends, and your bae is hesitant, they may have the upper hand.
You’re canceling because you want to spend more time with your lover or because you’ll be thinking about them the entire night out, but they might not be as accommodating about missing out on time with friends.
To be clear, healthy time away from the relationship with friends is always necessary. Absence, as they say, makes the heart grow fonder.
3. You are more familiar with him than he is with you
If you truly love someone, you should be interested in their life and retain information about them.
However, if your significant other knows far less about you than you do about them, it could indicate that you care more. The same can be said if your partner isn’t open about their lives outside of the relationship.
4. You are always the one to take the initiative
If you’re always the one to plan things, from proposals to dates with your partner, it shows that you care more.
It takes effort to plan around your hectic schedule, and it should be a two-way street in your relationship. You deserve surprises, dinner dates, and vacations that Bae puts effort into, just like you do.
5. Doesn’t mention you in the future
When you’re truly in love with someone, you picture them in your future, right? If he doesn’t bring you up in the conversation about his future, it means he doesn’t see you as a part of it.
While you may be fantasizing about your future marriage, children, and everything else in the years ahead, his exclusion of you may indicate that you love him more, or, worse, that you are not a major priority in his life.
6. His dreams are always first
You should both be interested in what the other person is passionate about. You’re definitely putting in more love if you’re always supporting his dreams but he discourages you.
Everyone deserves a partner who believes in them — in fact, your boyfriend or girlfriend should be your number one cheerleader!
7. You are willing to compromise, but they are not
In a relationship, you don’t always get what you want. You must sometimes make sacrifices or meet someone in the middle. If your partner is unwilling to budge in order for the two of you to collaborate, it may indicate that he does not care enough to make a compromise.
If you’re willing to give up your own vision of happiness for the greater good of being together, but your partner isn’t, you’re not on the right track.
8.They’re not available when you need them
It’s a red flag if your partner is constantly flaking on you and not showing up when you need them. Are you willing to give up everything to help your partner? That is what true love is.
It’s not great if you need them for comfort, advice, or just a shoulder to cry on and they’re never there or tell you it’s not a big deal. At the end of the day, love is all about showing up for another person.
9. They forget important dates in your life
You may be more invested in a family engagement, your birthday plans, or celebrating an anniversary with your boyfriend if those dates mean something to you and he doesn’t even remember what day of the month they are.
Celebrating significant milestones together can help a couple bond further and strengthen their relationship. A lack of concern for them is a lack of concern — period.
