Horror As ; Twins Die in Mwea House Fire, Cause Under Investigation
A heartbreaking fire incident in Murinduku, Mwea East, Kirinyaga County, claimed the lives of four-year-old boy-and-girl twins on Wednesday, January 8. The children, who were under the care of their grandmother at the time, were tragically caught in the flames that engulfed their home.
Reports indicate that the children’s mother had left to secure a school for them when the devastating fire broke out. Despite neighbors’ swift efforts to extinguish the flames, the inferno consumed the house, leaving no chance for rescue.
“The house was burnt down to ashes, and unfortunately, the children were burnt beyond recognition,” confirmed Area Assistant Chief Patrick Njeru.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined.
Domestic Violence Turns Gruesome in Maragua
In a separate fire-related tragedy in Maragua, Murang’a County, a 47-year-old woman is battling for her life after her boyfriend allegedly set her on fire during a domestic dispute.
According to reports, the boyfriend doused her in kerosene before igniting the fire, following a heated argument over food. The woman’s relatives, who were present, rushed to her aid amidst screams for help.
“The husband came and poured kerosene on her, then set her on fire. We screamed for help, and people came to rescue her,” a family member recalled.
The victim is now receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital, where she continues to fight for her life.
