First Lady Supports Kwale Students with Shoes and Kitchen Gardens Launch
On Friday, First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto delivered on her Mashujaa Day promise by donating shoes to all students at Matuga Girls High School and Mwachome Primary School in Kwale County.
This initiative, conducted in partnership with Aga Khan University Hospital, aims to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Representing the First Lady at the event were Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani and Mary Muinde, Chief of Staff to the First Lady
. The occasion also marked the launch of Kitchen Gardens to bolster school feeding programs, a step aligned with the government’s 100% school enrollment, retention, and transition policy.
The ceremony saw attendance from several local leaders, including Kwale Deputy Governor Mangale Munga Chiforomondo, County Deputy Director of Education Robert Mukombe, and Leader of Majority in Kwale County Assembly, Hanifa Badi Mwajirani.
This joint effort underscores the First Lady’s commitment to improving the lives of students in marginalized areas while addressing food security and education challenges.
