Residents of Vihiga County are living in fear following a surge in violent attacks by an unknown motorbike gang.
The gang, comprising Fear Grips Vihiga as Motorbike Gang Terrorizes Residents, with Majengo, Chavakali, and Luanda being the most affected.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Ellam Malenge, the Security Committee chairperson, expressed deep concern over the situation, urging residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.
“These boys have terrorized the community, leaving several people with life-threatening injuries,” Malenge said, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to curb the rising insecurity.
Victims who survived these brutal encounters recounted their horrifying experiences, painting a grim picture of the violent spree.
Many now fear for their safety as the gang continues to operate unchecked, exploiting the mobility provided by their motorbikes to escape law enforcement.
In response, Vihiga County’s security team has launched an investigation and is calling on the public to provide any information that might help bring the perpetrators to justice.
Security efforts are being intensified, and there are growing calls from residents for immediate action to restore peace and stability in the region.
