Ex-MCA Arrested in Connection to Organ-Harvesting Syndicate After Mob Storms Station
Former Nominated MCA Carren Atieno Muga was arrested on Saturday, January 6, following a violent mob attack on Chemase Police Station in Nandi County. The mob, incensed by the gruesome murder of Enock Kipsang, stormed the station, lynched a suspect, and vandalized the premises.
On January 3, over 3,000 locals descended on the station, flushing out murder suspect Victor Kimtai, who was stoned, beheaded, and set on fire. Reports indicate Kimtai had blown the lid on an organ-harvesting syndicate and allegedly threatened his family. Following his death, the mob vandalized the police post, torching it and injuring three officers.
Authorities have linked the former MCA to the syndicate, alleging that she is the mother of one of the prime suspects in Kipsang’s brutal killing. Police arrested her along the Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road as she allegedly attempted to flee to avoid a possible lynching by angry locals. Her vehicle, a Toyota Harrier, was impounded as part of the investigation.
The dismembered body of Kipsang, 38, was discovered on a roadside. His head was retrieved from a borehole, while other body parts, including his private organs, had been severed. This horrific incident sparked outrage in Tinderet Constituency, leading to the mob’s violent actions.
Following the attack, police recovered stolen National and Kenya Police Service flags taken during the chaos. Authorities assured the public that they are pursuing additional suspects in the case.
“We are closing in on other prime suspects in this matter, with DCI Tinderet handling the ongoing investigations,” stated the National Police Service (NPS).
The violence prompted an emergency meeting led by Deputy Inspectors General Eliud Lagat (Kenya Police) and Gilbert Masengeli (Administration Police). They met with senior security officials in Nandi to strategize on fostering peaceful coexistence among the locals.
The case continues to unfold as authorities intensify their crackdown on those linked to the organ-harvesting syndicate and the Chemase Police Station attack.
