DusitD2 Hero Christian Craighead Awarded by Trump
Christian Craighead, the former SAS soldier celebrated for rescuing dozens of hostages during the 2019 DusitD2 Hotel terrorist attack in Nairobi, has been handpicked by US President-elect Donald Trump to join his elite security team.
Craighead, 48, will assume a vital position in Trump’s security detail ahead of the upcoming inauguration scheduled for January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
Trump, who survived an assassination attempt in September 2024, reportedly believes Craighead’s renowned situational awareness and combat expertise could be pivotal in safeguarding his life. Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, has since been arrested in connection with the failed attempt.
A close family source disclosed that Trump first contacted Craighead after the DusitD2 attack to commend his courage and tactical brilliance. The two have maintained a bond ever since, with Craighead even visiting the White House in the past.

Craighead, whose actions in Nairobi garnered global admiration, was in Kenya at the time training local counter-terrorism forces. He took swift, independent action during the DusitD2 attack, saving over 20 lives. The UK later awarded him the nation’s second-highest military honor.
However, his rise to fame strained relations with the SAS, an organization that emphasizes discretion. Efforts to publish a memoir about his heroic actions were thwarted in 2024 by a British High Court, citing national security concerns.

With his new role in Trump’s security team, Craighead steps back into the global spotlight, continuing his legacy as a protector in high-stakes environments.
