Distress ; as Young Boy Vanishes After Escorting Sick Friend Home
Despair has gripped Kayole after the sudden and mysterious disappearance of 13-year-old Joseph Duncan Odhiambo, a grade five pupil at Komarock South Primary School. Joseph was last seen on September 28, 2024, after he attended his usual Saturday remedial classes. His family has been plunged into worry and uncertainty as they search for answers about his whereabouts.
Joseph’s father, Edward Otieno, recounts the events leading up to the boy’s disappearance. He had dropped Joseph off at school in the morning before heading to work. However, when Edward returned home at 9 PM, he was shocked to find that Joseph was not back.
Anxious, Edward reached out to James Mutuko, the teacher on duty, who had assured him that his son was safe and would be home shortly. According to Mutuko, Joseph had been sent to escort a sick friend home, and the teacher promised to personally ensure the boy’s return. Yet, as the hours passed and midnight approached, Edward’s calls to Mutuko went unanswered, intensifying his fears.
In the early hours of the following day, Edward attempted to contact Mutuko again. However, this time, the teacher became hostile, warning Edward to stop calling him. Frustrated and desperate, Edward reported the matter to the Kayole Police Station, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since summoned Mutuko for questioning.
Despite these efforts, Joseph remains missing, and the family is pleading with the public to come forward with any information that could help bring him back home safely. Attempts by the media to reach Mutuko for comment were unsuccessful, as he reportedly hung up when approached.
The Odhiambo family remains hopeful but deeply distressed, as they continue their search for their beloved son.
