Dispute Turns Deadly as Man Slashed Over Cane Money
A heated argument over cane seed sales ended in tragedy when a man was slashed to death in Muhoroni, Kisumu County. The incident, which took place on Monday morning in Mikira village, was confirmed by the police, who identified the deceased as Fredrick Oranga.
According to eyewitnesses, the conflict began after Oranga and his friend, who later became his assailant, disagreed over the sharing of proceeds from the sale of cane seeds. As the dispute escalated, the assailant, armed with a panga, viciously attacked Oranga, leaving him lying in a pool of blood.
The two men were alone in a room when the violent altercation occurred, resulting in Oranga sustaining fatal injuries. His body has since been moved to Othoo Funeral Home, where an autopsy is scheduled.
In a swift turn of events, the suspect was confronted by angry youths from the community who inflicted injuries on his forehead. He was, however, rescued by police officers and taken to Nyang’oma Subcounty Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.
In another tragic incident in Kendubay, a 68-year-old woman, Rodah Akinyi Mathew, died after being assaulted by her son in a domestic altercation. The unfortunate event took place in Kogwano Orwang Sublocation. She was rushed to Homabay Referral Hospital but succumbed to her injuries. The assailant fled the scene, and police efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.
Meanwhile, in the Sinai area of Mukuru slums, Nairobi, the body of a 45-year-old man, Saidi Mutua, was found lying in his bed with no visible injuries. The body has been taken to the mortuary, and investigations into the cause of death are underway.
