Deputy President Kindiki Warns Against Incitement
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki delivered a stern caution to political leaders engaging in divisive rhetoric, accusing them of threatening national unity. Speaking at the African Inland Church (AIC) Mission in Korr, Laisamis Constituency, Marsabit County, on Sunday, November 24, Kindiki’s remarks came just a day after his speech was rejected in Murang’a County.
During the church service, the Deputy President denounced the manner in which some leaders critique the government, emphasizing the need for mutual respect in public discourse.

“Anyone can say what they want about what is good for this country,” Kindiki stated. “But let us not correct each other in a manner that shows disrespect.”
Although he refrained from naming individuals, Kindiki accused certain influential leaders of using incitement to disrupt the government’s agenda.
“Some leaders have nothing else to say to the public, so they resort to incitement. Any leader inciting a community or a section of society is not worth that title of a leader,” he added.
Accompanied by a host of leaders, including MPs Joseph Lekuton (Laisamis), Naomi Waqo (Marsabit), and Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), Kindiki was joined by Marsabit County leaders and local community representatives, underscoring the gravity of his message.
Kindiki’s comments coincide with a deepening contest for influence in the Mount Kenya region. His predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, appears determined to assert his dominance despite being ousted from office. Gachagua’s fiery rhetoric during a separate church event in Murang’a County further highlighted the brewing tensions.
On Sunday, Gachagua took direct aim at President William Ruto, accusing him of being overly harsh in response to criticism. He also alluded to the drama in Murang’a on Saturday, where mourners at an MCA’s burial rejected Kindiki’s written condolence message.

“I told them ‘wasiguze mlima,’ but they did. They are now feeling the effects,” Gachagua remarked ominously. “What they saw in Embu and Murang’a is just the beginning. More is yet to come.”
The former Deputy President teased a significant political announcement slated for January 2025, rallying his supporters to stay vigilant for what he termed as the “next chapter.”
