Deadly Russian Missile Strike Kills Father and Child in Kyiv Region
Tragedy Strikes Kyiv as Russian Missile Kills Father and Son
In the early hours of Sunday, a Russian air strike claimed the lives of a 35-year-old father and his 4-year-old son just outside Kyiv, in Ukraine’s Brovary district.
The attack, which President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated involved a North Korean-made missile, also left three others wounded, including a teenage boy.
Emergency responders worked through the night, pulling the lifeless body of the young child from beneath the rubble of what was once their home. This heartbreaking incident, described by Zelenskiy as a “deliberate terrorist strike,” highlights the ongoing brutality of the conflict.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 53 of the 57 Iranian-made drones launched alongside the missile were intercepted, but the damage from the missile strike proved fatal.
Zelenskiy renewed his plea for a comprehensive air defense system from Ukraine’s allies and urged for the authorization to conduct strikes deep within Russian territory, utilizing Western-supplied weapons.
While Moscow has yet to comment, the Kremlin maintains its stance of denying civilian targeting, despite a 29-month-long invasion that has devastated lives and uprooted millions.
