Deadly Overtake: Narok Accident Claims Six Lives, Injures 26
Six people lost their lives, and 26 others sustained injuries following a tragic collision between a school bus and a matatu in the Olonini area along the Narok-Bomet highway on Saturday night.
According to police, the school bus from Mesabisabi Secondary School was en route to Bomet, while the Narok Line Services matatu was traveling in the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses and authorities reported that heavy rain and reckless overtaking by the bus driver caused the head-on collision.
Three passengers in the matatu died instantly, while three others succumbed to their injuries at Ololunha Hospital. Police confirmed that 16 passengers suffered severe injuries, while 10 others were treated for minor injuries.
The injured were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment, with the bodies of the deceased also transferred to the same hospital’s mortuary. Notably, the school bus driver survived the crash.
Investigations into the accident are ongoing as authorities warn motorists to exercise caution, especially during adverse weather conditions.
