Check How Deputy Was Forced To Make Emergency School Landing
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday morning at Nduriri Primary School in Njoro due to adverse weather conditions.
The unexpected incident occurred while Gachagua, accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, was en route to a memorial service for the late David Chepkwony, husband of Njoro MP Charity Kathambi.
The Deputy President, known for his candid demeanor, lightened the mood with a humorous remark in Kikuyu, noting that it was his first time in the area.
Gachagua assured the gathered residents that the situation was under control, explaining that the pilot deemed it unsafe to continue to their intended destination, Kimugul Primary School Grounds in Mauche Ward.
The emergency landing has reignited discussions about the reliability of official transport for Kenya’s second-in-command, particularly in light of recent controversies. Gachagua’s team remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the incident, beyond citing bad weather. The Deputy President’s office also did not clarify if the emergency landing was related to the ongoing issues surrounding his access to official aircraft, which has been a subject of recent debate.
Despite the disruption, Gachagua and his wife later proceeded to the memorial service and later attended a wedding in Juja, Kiambu County, showcasing the Deputy President’s commitment to his duties.
