Charlene Ruto Shares Painful Story on Early Heartbreaks and Regrets On Her Past Relationships
Charlene Ruto, daughter of Kenyan President William Ruto and patron of SMACHS Foundation, recently opened up about her private life and relationships.
In a candid interview with a colleague, she revealed a life regret: diving into relationships too early. Charlene shared that she was encouraged to “socialize before specializing” during her younger years. However, she admitted that starting romantic relationships prematurely led to heartbreaks she believes could have been avoided.
Reflecting on her past, she remarked, “I was not patient to enjoy my life, to just be me without having to be someone’s girlfriend.” Charlene humorously added that she’s experienced heartbreak not once or twice, but multiple times, bringing a light-hearted moment to the interview as she chuckled with the interviewer.
When asked about qualities she’s proud of, Charlene emphasized her commitment to discipline. “I’m disciplined in everything I do or at least try to be—whether in work, growing my relationship with God, or staying physically fit,” she said, acknowledging that discipline is a key part of her character that few people know.
Charlene also spoke of her love for Kenyan cuisine, naming ugali and fish as her favorite meal, though she admitted she could never say no to chips. She highlighted the deep bond she shares with her family, revealing that her best friends include her parents and siblings, along with her mentor Mary Nkatha. She joked about adding her future husband and children to that list someday.
Earlier in February, Charlene made headlines when she approached televangelist Benny Hinn for prayer, expressing her desire to find a husband with specific qualities. Her public vulnerability sparked admiration among Kenyans, with many men taking their chances and publicly proposing to her. One admirer, X influencer Omwamba, even offered a traditional dowry of 10 cows.
This revelation gives fans a glimpse into the personal side of Charlene, who, beyond her public duties, is navigating the same challenges and aspirations many young women experience.
