CCTV Footage Shows Armed Police Abducting Father and Son in Chilling Murang’a Incident
In a chilling incident that has sparked public outrage, CCTV footage has surfaced showing seven heavily armed men, believed to be police officers, abducting a 60-year-old man, Joseph Kimani Machiri, from his home in Kairi, Mathioya Constituency, on the night of Tuesday, August 12, 2024. The shocking footage reveals the men entering Kimani’s compound, cutting off the lights, and forcefully taking him away.
This harrowing event occurred just hours after Kimani’s son, David Machiri Kimani, was also abducted from his home in Thogoto, Kiambu County. The family, speaking through their lawyer, Ndegwa Njiru, has expressed deep concern over the whereabouts of their loved ones. The abductions are believed to be linked to an ongoing court case involving David Kimani, who is accused of defrauding a local bank of Ksh1.5 billion.
Njiru claims that the abductions took place after the court granted bail to both father and son, despite the prosecution’s request to detain them further. The incident has added fuel to growing public anger over a series of alleged police abductions, with calls for accountability from top law enforcement officials, including the Inspector General of Police and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
Kimani’s spouse, Nancy Wambui, described the terrifying moment when armed men broke into their home, dragged her husband out, and disappeared into the night. A neighbor, Kenneth Mwangi, who attempted to intervene, was overpowered and threatened by the gunmen.
The case has attracted widespread condemnation, with pressure mounting on the police to stop these unlawful abductions. Mathioya Sub-County Police Commander Paul Karobia has confirmed that investigations are underway.
