Catholic Church Calls Out Ruto’s Government on Murders, Abductions, and Corruption
The Catholic Church issued a scathing critique of President William Ruto’s administration, expressing alarm over the ongoing cases of unexplained killings, abductions, pervasive corruption, and an entrenched culture of dishonesty.
In a strongly worded statement, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) condemned the government for creating an environment in which citizens have become desensitized to political deceit.
The statement, read by Bishop Dominic Kimengich of Eldoret Catholic Diocese, urged Kenyans to reject the falsehoods commonly perpetuated by their leaders.
“Kenyans must learn not to applaud or validate the lies that politicians tell them, but rather must resolve to seek and be led by the truth,” he emphasized, calling for a collective commitment to integrity and truth-seeking.
The bishops highlighted a disturbing trend: the normalization of deceit within the government, which they argue is undermining the fabric of Kenyan society. They called upon citizens to hold their leaders accountable and resist political manipulation, stressing that only through truth and transparency can trust be restored in governance.
In addition, the KCCB pointed to widespread corruption as a corrosive force in the country, eroding public resources and trust. They called on the administration to address these vices with urgency, emphasizing that failure to act decisively on these matters risks deepening the country’s social and moral decay.
