Businessman’s Attack on Partner Left Fighting for Life After Domestic Wrangle Turns Deadly
A Nakuru-based businessman, Elias Mutugi Njeru, has been apprehended over allegations of attempted murder after reportedly stabbing his partner multiple times. Njeru voluntarily surrendered to authorities at Nakuru Police Station, accompanied by his legal counsel.
“The suspect surrendered at Nakuru Police Station in the company of his lawyer from Gakuhi Chege and Associates Advocates,” the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed in a statement. Following his surrender, Njeru was re-arrested and placed in custody as detectives from Menengai Police Station launch further investigations into the case.
The shocking incident occurred at the couple’s rental residence in the Olive area of Nakuru County. Preliminary reports indicate that the attack stemmed from domestic disputes. The victim, Florence Wanjiku Gichohi, who is also Njeru’s business partner at Indigenous Land Properties Limited, sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital where her condition remains critical.
The crime was initially reported at Kiamunyi Police Post, where authorities began piecing together evidence. Leaders in Nakuru County have decried the act, urging swift justice for the victim.
“We will stand with the family, and once the security agents conclude their investigations, we will volunteer on a pro bono basis to represent her family,” assured Gender Principal Secretary Anna Wangombe.
This case adds to a growing list of similar violent domestic incidents that have resulted in severe injuries or fatalities, sparking public outrage and calls for urgent measures to address such crimes.
